WHAT IS A TIP REFRESHER?
A TIP REFRESHER is a paste or cream used to clean and restore oxidized soldering iron tips..It removes the dark, non-wetting oxide layer, enabling the tip to be re-tinned with solder and improving soldering performance and lifespan. Users dip a hot, oxidized tip into the refresher, which dissolves the oxidation and leaves a coating of tin for a like-new appearance and function.
How to Use a Tip Refresher
- Heat the Soldering Iron: Heat the soldering iron to the recommended temperature, usually between 300-360°C.
- Dip the Tip: With the tip at the proper temperature, carefully dip the hot tip into the refresher paste or cream.
- Apply Solder: Once the refresher has done its work, apply solder to the tip.
- Clean: Wipe the excess residue from the tip with a moist cellulose sponge.
- Repeat if Necessary: If the tip is still unclean, repeat the process.
Benefits of Using a Tip Refresher
- Restores Performance: Restores the soldering tip’s ability to wet with solder.
- Extends Tip Life: Prevents the need to replace tips prematurely due to heavy oxidation.
- Enhances Soldering Quality: Ensures clean, smooth, and precise soldering for better results.
- Cost-Effective: An economical way to maintain your soldering equipment without frequent tip replacements.
